Make a splash and help us raise funds for people living with multiple sclerosis!

The MS Mighty Swim is a great weekend event to get the whole family involved and supporting people living with MS in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

The Mighty Swim is an amateur, relay swimming challenge that encourages individuals and teams to compete by swimming the longest distance in a set 24-hour period.

The concept of the swim is simple - each team (up to 30 swimmers) must have a member swimming in the pool at all times. A maximum of 20 teams can participate, so get in quick before all the lanes fill up.

And it's not all swimming—there will be plenty of other activities across the weekend for everyone to enjoy!

Event Dates: 9 & 10 February 2019

Location: Unley Swimming Centre, Forestville

Start Time: 12:15pm, 9 February 2019

Finish Time: 12:15pm, 10 February 2019

Award Ceremony: 12:30pm, 10 February 2019

What is multiple sclerosis?

MS is the most common chronic neurological condition affecting young adults in Australia. MS is an unpredictable condition of the central nervous system, affecting nerves within the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.

The number of people living with MS in Australia in 2017 was over 25,600, an increase of 20% since 2010. The average age of diagnosis is 30, and it affects more women than men. The symptoms associated with MS can have a major impact on daily living, employment and families.

There is currently no known cause or cure, but there are a number of treatment options available to help manage symptoms and slow progression of the condition. More research still needs to be done.

How will my fundraising help?

All money raised through our fundraising efforts helps us provide essential services and supports to people living with MS in South Australia and the Northern Territory. We provide specialist health and wellness advice, social supports, and therapy services to people and their families during the early stages of diagnosis and throughout their MS journey.

Money raised also helps to fund vital research into improved treatments, and the cause and cure.
